Dr. Dave Rabin MD, PhD is a neuroscientist, board-certified psychiatrist, health-tech entrepreneur, and inventor. Fascinated by the hard problems - like illnesses that don’t respond to the standard treatments, he spent the last 15+ years researching treatments to combat the negative effects of chronic stress on physical and mental health. He completed his MD in medicine and PhD in neuroscience from Albany Medical College, and completed residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center — specializing in psychiatry. Hear from Dr. Dave why he developed the technology behind Apollo Neuro.

"I’m Dr. Dave Rabin, and I’m a neuroscientist, board-certified psychiatrist, and inventor.

The human body is amazing, adaptive, and powerful, but it is not designed for the way we live. In the last 40 years we have seen a rate of unprecedented change in how we work, live, and interact with each other. Rates of anxiety and depression are at an all time high, and two thirds of those living in the industrialized world have trouble sleeping. Many of us feel like we’re not in control of our lives a lot of the time. We built the Apollo Neuro technology to put you back in the driver's seat.

As a psychiatrist, my patients couldn’t make progress unless they felt like they were in a space of relative safety. Adjusting daily routines to include healthier practices was really challenging when they were constantly stressed, and it always seemed easier to fall back into old familiar habits, even if it wasn’t helping in the long run. It was a vicious cycle.

The Apollo wearable helps break that cycle. Like a friend giving you a hug on a tough day, it sends a signal to the emotional cortex of your brain that reminds us that “you’re good, you’re safe” and that you’re not actually in danger. It’s like music composed for your skin that plays your favorite song at just the right moment.

We researched and developed the technology behind the Apollo wearable at the University of Pittsburgh. As we see consistent positive results in the lab, we are driven to get Apollo into the world and make this powerful technology accessible to everyone. With Apollo, people are able to sleep better, focus, relax, be more present, and overall, tap into a happier and healthier version of themselves."
