Why Isn’t Everyone Feeling Safe in Their Body?
Apollo was co-founded in 2017 by Kathryn Fantauzzi and her husband, Dr. David Rabin, MD, PhD.
I'm Apollo's CEO, Kathryn Fantauzzi. I'm dedicated to innovation, and believe in getting good science out of the lab - and into people’s lives. Using my background in early-stage tech commercialization, I joined the University of Pittsburgh research team in 2016 to raise funding for clinical research on the Apollo discovery. As CEO, I've built a highly-skilled collaboration of physicians, researchers, engineers, and designers to transform the Apollo technology from a futuristic concept into a simple but powerful tool accessible to the public.
I’m Dr. Dave Rabin MD, PhD. I’m a board-certified psychiatrist, translational neuroscientist, and inventor. I train everyone from professional athletes, CEOs, and top performers to patients with severe mental illness on how to maximize performance, recovery, and healing. I discovered the Apollo vibration technology in search of better treatments for PTSD in military veterans and traumatized women who don’t get better after multiple full treatment courses of medication and therapy.
In 2017, in my lab in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, we discovered that sending silent sound wave vibrations in the deep bass range (like what comes out of a subwoofer) to the wrist or chest improved activity in the vagus nerve, and feelings of calm in the body within minutes. This resulted in up to 25% improvement in cognitive performance on very stressful math tasks.
After our first double-blind randomized placebo-controlled clinical trials of Apollo completed with successful results, we made wearable prototypes and distributed them to over 3000 people, some of whom had PTSD or other chronic illnesses, but most of whom were regular busy people who did not carry any diagnosis.
My wife and co-founder, Kathryn, the CEO of Apollo Neuro, began wearing Apollo daily starting in 2017. The benefits for us were both undeniable and life-changing. Within minutes, we were feeling more energy, focus, and calm, even on the most stressful days. Within a few weeks, our wearable trackers showed sleep improvements of nearly 30 minutes each night. Within months, our HRV doubled. We later learned that most of our 3000 test subjects were reporting similar experiences.
Seeing these improvements from Apollo in my patients with PTSD, as well as in all of us who did not have a diagnosis led Kathryn and me to launch Apollo Neuro as a consumer technology, available to anyone. No prescription needed. It also led us to release a free ‘lite’ version of Apollo vibrations delivered through the iPhone’s haptic engine, called Apollo Sessions, because we believe that access to healing is a right, not a privilege.
Kathryn and I are on a mission to create technology that heals humanity and Apollo is our first shot. Now thanks to 17 completed clinical trials in over 2000 research subjects since 2016, we are accomplishing that mission by proving, through rigorous independent university research, that Apollo helps the body heal. In 2025 alone, Apollo users got back over 140 million minutes of sleep. That’s over 273 years of sleep given back to the world by technology. We couldn’t be more excited to be with you on the journey to the best sleep of your life, and we sincerely hope that you enjoy Apollo as much as we do!
