It’s common to feel distracted and overwhelmed when you are under stress because your body is signaling that it should be escaping a threat. Sleep is challenging when you’re stressed. In nature, you wouldn’t go to sleep with a predator outside your tent. 

Chronic stress signals to our body that we are constantly under threat, disrupting our body’s natural ability to restore itself and recover from stress and it can have devastating effects on our health.
